Currently: Brown defeated the Democrat Coakley with 1,168,107 votes (52%) versus her 1,058,682 votes (47%).  The independent in the race, Joseph Kennedy, received only 22,237 votes.  Republicans have not won a Senate race in Massachusetts since 1972.  Read more about the upset victory at CNN or FOX News.

Bio: Brown began his political career in 1992, when he was elected to be an assessor in Wrentham, Massachusetts. In 1995, he was elected to the Wrentham Board of Selectmen, and was elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives for the 9th Norfolk District in 1998.
