omarhassanbashir_03nov06_210On 14 July 2008, the Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Luis Moreno-Ocampo, alleged that al-Bashir bore individual criminal responsibility for genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes committed since 2003 in Darfur.[6] The prosecutor accused al-Bashir of having “masterminded and implemented” a plan to destroy the three main ethnic groups, the Fur, Masalit and Zaghawa, with a campaign of murder, rape and deportation. The evidence was submitted to three judges who will decide whether to issue an arrest warrant.[56] If formally charged, al-Bashir would be the first sitting head of state charged by the ICC.[57] Al-Bashir has rejected the charges and said, “Whoever has visited Darfur, met officials and discovered their ethnicities and tribes … will know that all of these things are lies.”[58] Read the rest from Wikipedia

  4. It’s good to see justice, even if it’s 15+ years too late. Though now Finland is not extraditing the Rwanda guy suspected (and more than likely very guilty) of genocide because they’re afraid he won’t get a trial. He deserves one, just like the Serbian generals deserved their day(s) in court at the Hague, but it should be a short one for sure.
